Find the Spirit of the Season at Grace Episcopal Church’s
Service of Lesson and Carols
Offering from Annual Event to Benefit FIT-NH

(Manchester, NH) – On Sunday, December 15, at 4:30 PM, Grace Episcopal Church will offer its annual service of Lessons and Carols. This exquisite event recounts the miraculous story of Christmas through Old and New Testament readings, prayers, carols, choir anthems and organ music. The event will be held in the historic sanctuary located at 106 Lowell Street in Manchester.

This year, in respect for the savior’s humble and austere beginnings, the freewill offering collected at the service will be donated to Families in Transition-New Horizons. “As we celebrate the beautiful miracle of Christ’s birth, we are also called to remember that we are all God’s children,” says Grace Church Rector the Rev. Marjorie Gerbracht. “We are obliged to share the warmth of the season’s spirit to our brothers and sisters in need.”

The service of Lessons and Carols is modeled after a celebration first offered by the King’s College Choir at England’s Cambridge University in 1918 and still broadcast annually on the BBC. The Grace Episcopal Church Lessons & Carols features seven lessons and familiar Christmas Carols such as “Once in royal David’s city”, ‘Away in a manger”, “We three Kings” and “The first Nowell”. The acclaimed Grace Church Choir, with Director Mark Cleveland, will lead the congregation in song. Grace Church Organist Kenneth Grinnell will feature the complete “Variations on a Noël” by Marcel Dupré on the church’s custom built pipe organ.

The service of Lessons and Carols is free and open to all. Guests are also invited to stay afterwards for a festive reception held in the Great Hall.

Come find the spirit of the season and let that spirit—and the music—move you!

Thank you to all those who gathered on the morning of Saturday, November 16th for our annual, outdoor Fall cleanup day. Our campus looks beautiful because of all of you!

Join the Hospitality Committee on Sunday, October 27th, after the 10:30 service, for a Howling Good Time as we host the first ever Indoor Trunk or Treat for the youth of our church.

How can you help, you ask.  That is a great question.  There are two way you can help.

The first way you can help (and the most fun for the children) is by decorating a box with your spookiest Halloween decorations. Then by bringing the box to church that Sunday, full of candy or prizes, to pass out as the children go from box to box to trick or treat.

The second way you can help is by donating a bag of candy to the event to help supplement what other parishioners bring for their displays.

We look forward to seeing you at this fun event!

Do you know all of the opportunities Grace Church offers its parishioners as ways to get involved other than the Sunday morning services?  Join the Fellowship Committee, as we host a Ministry Expo on September 22nd during both Coffee Hours and learn about the many opportunities to serve in the next ministry season.  There will be tables set up in the Great Hall with leaders from every ministry of the church that can help you find a place to invest your gifts and talents in the life of someone else.  Find out how you can get involved, get to know others who have the same gifts as you, and serve the church in meaningful ways that fit who you already are.  Don’t miss this opportunity to find the perfect place for you to participate in what God is doing at our church!  Food will be provided by the ministries who are participating in the exposition.  We hope to see you for this wonderful opportunity to get more involved with Grace Episcopal Church.

ATTEND THE MINISTRY EXPO ON SEPTEMBER 22nd!

On Sunday, September 8th, we will gather at the home of Tom and Christine Stevens at 11:30 for the Second Annual Grace Church Picnic. This event is sponsored by the Fellowship Committee.

We had rave reviews from those who attended last year.  There was plenty of good food to eat, games to play, and wonderful conversations.  The Steven’s have also offered up their pool for swimming.  Parents, you are responsible for the safety of your own children while they are swimming. There will not be a life guard on duty.

This year the Fellowship committee will once again provide hamburgers, hotdogs, and veggie burgers.  Please bring sides and desserts to share with everyone.  Bring your own drinks and chairs.

Please contact Nancy Johnson,Teddi McIntosh or one of the Fellowship Committee members for more information.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Special thanks to the mountain of volunteers (21 total!!) who attended our June Laundry Love program.  We are especially grateful to Holly Daigle, director and operator of the Manchester Kona Ice truck, who worked with us to serve shave ice to our Laundry Love parishioners and parish volunteers this past June.

Remember, NO Laundry Love in July!  Our next opportunity to serve will be Tuesday, August 6th.  The Kona Ice truck will appear again that evening as well.
